Hey! I'm Daisy, an unpopular but quite experienced map maker. This post is more like a newbie guide for my (kinda) Great Turkish War scenario, NOT a promotion or advertisement. I'm going to link this topic to people who keep asking me about strategies, events, units, and all that stuff when they see my map for the first time. To be honest, when I have time I'll repeat this with all my other maps for sure (which is worth it to do so)... (!) IMPORANT (!) >>> buildings are OP, your experience of the map and the victory of your team may depend on you using buildings properly! /2020-08-29./ You can pick from 2 teams with 4 roles in each team, as you can see below: 1. Holy League: Royal Hungary [main] Croatia [secondary] Habsburg Monarchy [special] Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth [support] 2. Ottoman Empire: Occupied Hungary [main] Southern Balkans [secondary] Vassal States [special] Ottoman Encampments [support] Let's see them detailed: 1. Royal Hungary (Holy League) Color (/): azure / cyan (blue) Relative position (*): northwest from the center Reinforcements (¤): medium Money ($): 4/5 Difficulty (~): very hard Main role (!): holding back the ottomans from central Hungary Best strategies (=): PD, IMP, GC, IF, GW (pro tip: Hungary gets stealth units in t5, this is why MOS is not recommended: GW is nice mix between defense and stealth boost after t5) Playstyle (|>): heart of the team | very defensive at the start | reliable on events Advantages (+): if you manage to survive the first few turns and your team is good, the gameplay becomes very smooth and straightforward Disadvantages (-): spamming walls and crossing "rivers" is not for everyone Recommended rank (^): 7-9 Best play (#1): Flume - PD 2. Croatia (Holy League) Color (/): (light) blue Relative position (*): west, in the middle Reinforcements (¤): low Money ($): 5/5 Difficulty (~): moderate Main role (!): defending against the ottomans on the balkans Playstyle (|>): defensive during the whole game | second military frontline of the team | requires strategy and atwar mindset Best strategies (=): PD, IF, GW (Croatia has no stealth units, nor main attack units! be aware!) Advantages (+): it is like a mini copy of Royal Hungary: defensive gameplay, but with fun events and a bigger random-factor due to its unique location and units Disadvantages (-): choosing the offensive path with this country simply sucks, unless you have a dumb enemy in the ottoman team Recommended rank (^): 5-7 Best play (#1): Arisen - HW 3. Habsburg Monarchy (Holy League) Color (/): gray / black Relative position (*): northwest corner Reinforcements (¤): medium Money ($): 3/5 Difficulty (~): easy Main role (!): support Hungary and push the ottomans back before they reach Vienna Playstyle (|>): military support | financial support | moderately offensive, stress-free play Best strategies (=): IMP, RA, BLITZ, NC (yes, NC works, lol) Advantages (+): very flexible: you can do either wall spamming in Hungary or in Croatia, funding your teammates, or going full offense with knights Disadvantages (-): since you aren't so close to the frontlines and the country is huge, transporting your units might be a pain Recommended rank (^): 4-6 Best play (#1): khameleon - IMP 4. Poland-Lithuanian Commonwealth (Holy League) Color (/): indianred (red) Relative position (*): north / northwest / northeast Reinforcements (+): low (early) - medium / high (later) Money ($): 3/5 Difficulty (~): hard Main role (!): supporting your team as you can until you get Poland and Germany from events, and then... COMING DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAIN SIDE! Playystyle (|>): awaiting the events | financial support | military support, later military powerhouse if you're doing well Best strategies (=): LB, BLITZ, IMP (IMP is not the best choice due to -1 attack to the strong Winged Hussars and Musketmen, but definitely worth a try) Advantages (+): you'll most likely own 3 capitals, which none of can be taken without ottomans killing your whole team first, so no worries Disadvantages (-): here goes the biggest events of the game, that leads to several different management accross the map (e. g. Holy Roman Empire, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth), with huge distances between your cities Recommended rank (^): 6-8 Best play (#1): Rcosper55 - BLITZ 5. Occupied Hungary (Ottoman Empire) Color (/): orange Relative position (*): center of the map Reinforcements (¤): high Money ($): 4/5 Difficulty (~): very hard Main role (!): pushing to Vienna and beyond Playstyle (|>): core of the team | mostly offensive | requires strategy and atwar mindset | teamwork: success relies on the team as well Best strategies (=): LB, GC, IF, PD, NC (i don't recommend PD at any cost but it might work if everyone else in the team goes hyper-offensive, NC feels broken while carrying troops on the Danube) Advantages (+): well, if you enjoy being the most important member of your team and grind a lot of sp, go for it Disadvantages (-): this country needs the most amount of micro-management (it just becomes worse by the turns going on) Recommended rank (^): 7-9 Best play (#1): karlo - IF 6. Southern Balkans (Ottoman Empire) Color (/): brown Relative position (*): south / southeast Reinforcements (¤): medium Money ($): 2/5 Difficulty (~): hard Main role (!): try to rush Croatia and if you fail, hold Bosnia Playstyle (|>): very offensive, however, it can turn into very defensive quickly | carrying troops from long distances | tactical support Best strategies (=): BLITZ, LB, RA, IMP, PD (once again: PD works, but highly not recommended according to the events of the Holy League and superior $$$ of the west) Advantages (+): your capital is quite far away from the efforts, additionally, you don't have to worry about getting rushed because Croatia doesn't have any fast-moving artillery Disadvantages (-): you are stuck to attack Croatia like impulses: for example sending 30 units in turn2, that arrives to Bosnia in turn5, or you must wait to build stacks and risk losing cities Recommended rank (^): 5-7 Best play (#1): ERAOFDEMONS - BLITZ 7. Vassal States (Ottoman Empire) Color (/): (dark) green Relative position (*): east, in the middle Reinforcements (¤): medium Money ($): 4/5 Difficulty (~): moderate Main role (!): taking Upper Hungary and defending against the polish Winged Hussars in late-game Playstyle (|>): slightly strategy based | mixed: first offense, then defense, but you can swap any time you'd like Best strategies (=): GW, MOS, PD, IMP (actually, PD is only for experienced here!) Advantages (+): there are only 2 players in the entire game who can produce stealth units, and you are one of them Disadvantages (-): it doesn't benefit from the ottoman units like Sipahi and Janissaries, it goes pure stealth and regular infantry at a point Recommended rank (^): 6-8 Best play (#1): Ivan. - GW 8. Ottoman Encampments (Ottoman Empire) Color (/): seagreen (light green) Relative position (*): center and somewhat south / southeast from it Reinforcements (¤): low / medium Money ($): 3/5 Difficulty (~): very easy Main role (!): supporting southern and central ottomans in the battle, either with money or by troops Playstyle (|>): military support | financial support | tactical support | full stress-free gameplay Best strategies (=): IMP, LB, PD (almost anything will work with this pick, no joke) Advantages (+): very chilly gameplay, your capital is quite far from everything, so you can just sit and plan for your team (you'll have a lot of free time to look at the map with only 6 cities) Disadvantages (-): the only disadvantage here is that you're not a massive game-changing player of the battle Recommended rank (^): 3-5 Best play (#1): Daisy - LB Please note that this is not a really deep "detailed" guide, but hey, I dont't like spoilers, do you?
