More good news, everyone! It's been a while since atWar had any new content, so today we'd like to introduce an idea for a new type of unit - buildings! There are two crucial differences from regular units: they can't move (duh!) and you cannot build more than one of the same kind in one city. Here are the buildings we have for starters:

  • Recruitment Center: gives the city 3 extra reinforcements per week
  • Forifications: +1 defence to all city troops (similar to General)
  • Radar Array: 150 view range, helps to see what your neighbours are doing and catch stealth units
  • Anti-air Defences: 20 defence against air units
  • Coastal Battery: 20 defence against naval units (former rare unit)
  • Bank: -10 upkeep for every unit in the city NEW

    All buildings cost 700, have 20 hit points, 0 attack (duh!) and 1 defence. All of them are also discoverable in captured cities, similar to rare units. Unlike rare units, you'll still have to pay for their upkeep.

    It's currently possible to build/find Coastal Battery in non-port cities, this is a known issue and will be fixed later.

    Before we introduce buildings to the live server, let's get them some thorough testing at https://atwar-game-test.com!

    Feedback and tweak suggestions are welcome. I know you'll want to give suggestions on their mechanics as well, but at the moment we won't be able to change that, sorry. Here's the list of things that can be tweaked (useful if you want to suggest new buildings as well):

    Own stats:
  • Max. defence
  • View range
  • Cost
  • Critical hit chance
  • HP
  • Stealth

    Increasing other units stats (all or a particular unit)
  • Same list as own stats

    Defence:
  • Extra defence against certain units

    Special:
  • Extra reinforcements in the city

    Please note that we'd like to keep things like attack, defence, cost and HP uniform for all buildings. As you can see, you can't do that much with these limited tweakable things, but hopefully we'll be able to add new mechanics at some point later.

    These units are not a good idea at all. (actually some of them are fine)

    the 20 hp is insane.

    make it 10 hp pls

    and change the fortification +1 def for all units bonus to something else

    also, with blitz are u able to move buildings??

    also, i think u should increase the range for radars.

    also, anti air building one sucks. i can buy 3 mobile aa for cheaper and get more aa bonus.

    Great Update & good changes
    useful buildings but im not sure about radars

    they have a great range to detect stealth units
    3 radars are enough to cover whole balcans . say goodbye to marines & surprise attacks
    remove MoS & Gw

    also Recruitment Center . is that a joke ? pay 700 just to get +1 reinf ? if u want more reinf , u should buy it in all cities

    Let's assume fair roll is 50% of potential attk/defence for equals (it is also more reasonable to random plus/minus from the equal point. orelse getting 90% of potential attk will have same probability of opponent as getting 10% defence). hw 7 netural defence + general + building boost equals 9. 0.5*9 = 4 or 5. (put aside number of troops booster) while imp infnatry attack is 3 *0.5 is 1 or 2. therefore...

    There are some bugs I've found for now on this test version, so you know:

    1. As guy called 'j-e-s-u-s' noticed, if you press auto-produce button, you can make the infinite number buildings, depends on your money.


    2. After producing any amount of buildings (normally 1, or even more by autoproducing), you are not able to move your standard- movable unit stack from that city (in my case, I couldn't move militias) with your mouse, but you need to click on the city and pick it individually. The city without any building can move units normally by mouse click.


    3. While auto-producer is enabled in certain city, each reinforcment turn, after you get auto-producing number of buildings, you are able to remove also certain number of them (by your wish) and you got your money back, but you're not able to get the buildings back to the maximum number which was at the beggining of reinforcment turn.
    Also, this 'bug' may be removed by removing the auto-producing bug.






    I'm now testing it with two accounts, to be continued if I find something..

    Not possible atm, the unit must stay with the stack to influence their stats.

    Thanks for the thorough report! These two bugs should be easy to fix, but it looks like we won't be able to release buildings before the editor, if any game code is to be updated.

    with general middle roll would be 2 vs 7 hp and 5 defence

    Also i find it hard to believe game rolls are entirely random from min to max and not by system of middle plus/minus. in big rush rolls are operated at least 70-80 times. we would get far more random and ridiculous results than now espeically considering the fact they need to endhavour to get real random numbers in realiable equal probabilities in c# and javascript so result could get really wild. i saw you had copy of their rolls script. can you post it here or share in mail to approve that?

    Its like if you wanted to rush a capital before reinf turn, normally you d probably be able to predict the defense you d find if u were a good player, but now you can suddenly find 100-300 defense out of nowhere and screw your calculations. The upside is people wont rush as much but the downsides i guess we shall see. As for the aa's it can potentially make ukr and other sm's very weak and leave ds untouched as by the time turk gets his money for aa's ukr ds will probably have all his lands.

    P.S. you are helping the 1% with this, now the rich will have another advantage going for them

    P.S. 2 . This is just some friendly criticism on the concept. The fact we have new features is amazing, well done

    true . i was thinking about +1 reinf in all cities when u buy that building in capital but there would be problems with number of cities in countries , some have more cities like india , mexico , japan , usa atlantic & pacific & turkey . its hard to find a way improve it

    actually that wasnt my real problem , i just mentioned it , but about radars , they can detect stealth units easily , thats a serious problem .
