Guys, i will be quitting map making for the time being as I don't see the point of wasting my time making sophisticated and balanced maps, the current community just doesn't have the desire to try them out unless it involves easy SP. As the result, I am suspending all of my projects and hiding them for a undetermined amount of time. Usually its a sign of good faith to allow another map maker to take over as a collaborator, but this can't be the case with my maps since all of the cartographers that i know are inactive Including Pyrruhs and Aetius. Another option to keep my current maps alive would be to allow cloning, but this is out of the question since people just don't have neither the time or skill to maintain my maps and I don't want anyone to steal my credit (I don't want to be another illuminatum).

The dead of map making could be attributed but is not limited to the following reasons:
1) dependency on cartographer clans
2) monopolization and stagnation of the map catalog
3) bastardization of the custom map ideal, custom map's market being overrun by people who only care about SP and easy wins (RP)
4) Noobification of the player-base, unable to learn basic Afterwind mechanics such as strategies, micro, macro, turn-blocking and proper economy management.
5) Unreliable Map-making engine (Sorry amok)
6) Mistrust and lack of understanding between the staff/mods and the map making community.

Now, many of you guys already knew that I and a few other map makers were on the verge of being inactive, but I feel like its common courtesy to let you guys know that as of know there is not a single one left. Now, this doesn't mean that you won't see us once in a while in lobby or roaming the forum, it just means that for the time being we aren't making any more maps and this is unlikely to change any time soon.

Thanks for playing my maps while the scenario genre lasted, hopefully new map makers arise form this vacuum and revive map making and scenarios again, but that is unlikely if nothing is done to fix the problems listed above.

Gunoba is the embodiment of what tunder is talking about, he can't even have a serious send off post without these perasites defiling it. This game has so much potential wasted by complacent administration who seems fine with the current state of the game, as if they are so disconnected from there player base they can't see the issues, or they are to lazy to fix it, because they are making sufficient revenue in there own eyes to justify the ammount of work currently done.

Atwar maps are dead, First aetius and then Pyrrhus now tunder, If custom maps get fixed il take over their place but until then I have discontinued further modification to Viking conquests and operation husky.

Well,sad to hear this.

I don't have the time to split beetween work, some courses i'm taking and making maps here. So as long as i can, i'll continue make maps ocationally. (I paid for it, anyways). Hope Amok and Ivan release the new map editor soon.

its poor decision, if u arent satisfied with community relationships or who plays yours map, if u re concerned about popularity of yours map who cares ppl who value it will play and appreciate yours work, who dont appreciate wont play, only good reason would be life problems, or like i hate u, that u dont have time cause life obligations, and custom maps makers everyone have different taste, so if u like one type of maps, u cant expect that all pppl like yours type, u maste have wider view on community

I agree 100%. The map making aspect of AW is dying, if not dead. Ivan & Amok need to get their asses moving, with this HTML 5 Map maker. For Christ sakes, it was supposed to be released in February.

I been making custom maps for nearly 4 years since the map making tool was in alpha, before UN,Ancient World, GoT, Ultimate WW2, The War to end all wars, RP, Html5, Before Utahrapter3,paolo,Ezzatam,Tito,Pulse,Avatar,Primal,Bellerhoupon,Tik-tok,Jaredb, Cronus, Magic, Aetius,Pyrrhus,Illuminatum,Hellraiser,Adog,Fappino,Martell,Nifty. I've seen everything from start to end and i watched map making and scenarios develop as time went on. Magic and I made the first cartographer clan, Jaredb and I made the 2nd, I helped Aetius and Pyrruhs after they made the 3rd, it has always been the same people but now they are gone. I think its fair to say that i know when enough is enough.

You are free to take the burden and make maps yourself for the community, i know i will not.

I'll be here to make maps, and I'm not the only one from my side that is going to do it. The problem with people is that they relied too much on some of the names you mentioned, and without them, they lose their course (Hi WW1fags). Don't you worry, you will not go down this path, but I'm sure as hell that I will.
