Professional AtWar?

Hello all, I have a very simple question for all of you.

Now, I know you have major and high ranked skilled coalitions like Stalin's Martians, Mortal Kombat, and Syndicate and such for really good players that partake in clan wars for ELO points and bragging rights and all that crap, and then you have reknowned and good players like Mauzer who 1v1 and make their way up the chain, but this got me to wondering, does AtWar have an actual tourneys and major league events and such? And if they do, would anyone care to explain a little bit on how they work? I've seen badges on people's profiles for this, but I've never heard anyone speak of them nor has anyone been able to give me a straight answer.

edit - BTW stay tuned because there will be a tourney hosted for ranks 6-8 with a possible Protocoin prize.
