well it's hard to define, maybe rap and metal is just very far away from all other kinds of music, hearing those screamings in metal is terrible, but rap is the worst i don't even know where to begin

90% of the pop music is like that too, but in that genre you can find lot of songs that you would like, in rap it's way more rare, in metal it's impossible.

also in my opinion in those genres music are not for music, metal is mostely for making noise and sream and play on electric guitars, rap for crying or feeling cool or all that shit

you can see that in ton of pop songs for example, but the pop gave some great songs

it's hard to describe it but i suppuse it's matter of taste too

rap has many different variations, that basically resemble, what happens when you make beats and let a poet and a gangster have a child. its as much music as a few trumpets and drums combined with a poet matching the verses to the rythm, wich is generally accepted as music because there are people who like it and it has a musical profile. and dont you dare to call metal not music, its basically the same thing as rock and people like Freddie mercury made rock.

so, what do you personally think is not music about that? because that is the fundamental mistake you are making, you are defining music as what you personally like, wich is bullshit because your musical taste is as important to the world as the question what a cow's opinion is, it doesnt matter, its just moo.

i already said before it's matter of taste mostely, but you can't deny it that metal is very very diffrent from anything else, and as metal is more "heavy" or "extreme" it loses its value as music and matches to the taste of less people, at some point it's just people playing on electric guitars and screaming like crazy stupid things, the diffrence between rock and simple metal is not very meaningful that's true, but you can see where metal takes songs.

you are right, it's very unfair to say it's not music even on havy metal i agree with that as long as i think about it.

Only listen to electronic mostly cuz I like the genre and because it's scientifically proved listening to harder beats gives your brain the sense of being stronger, it has helped me with exams before lel

you havent listened to alot of metal music, there is more metal subgenre's than any another genre of music you have only heard teh screamo type, that is is pretty shite you shout broaden your horizons. i dont know anything about rap though just that white guy and "collio, gangsta's paradise"
