Judging by the time you made this post, it's because of your online time.
What times are you typically online? I don't normally see most activity until around 4 PM CST, or at least used to; however, I've also noticed less games since 2012 (I've noted either a decline in playerbase or a shift in happy hours/active hours) and throughout 2013 into 2014. I did notice growth earlier on in 2013.

european timezone, mostely nights and evenings, you still have games but not relevant for vetreans (rps, or world map games for rank 6s), i manage to find decent game once a few weeks and it's kinda frustating.
